Canvas is UWM’s online course platform. Even if your course is not taught fully online, you must:

  • Post your syllabus on Canvas.
  • Publish your course so students can access it prior to the start of the semester.
  • Use Canvas for announcements including but not limited to:
    • A welcome post letting students know materials they need for the course
    • Reminders for assignments
    • Any course changes
    • Input student grades into Canvas on a regular basis

Important Notes

  • Canvas rosters are NOT official — use PAWS for final rosters.
  • Canvas rosters may include dropped students (marked “inactive”).
  • Late-adding students rely on Canvas for catching up.
  • Do not email grades — post them in Canvas gradebook.
