Canvas is UWM’s online course platform. Even if your course is not taught fully online, you must:
- Post your syllabus on Canvas
- Publish your course so students can access it prior to the start of the semester
- Use Canvas for announcements including but not limited to:
- A welcome post letting students know materials they need for the course
- Reminders for assignments
- Any course changes
- Input student grades into Canvas on a regular basis
Important Notes
- Canvas rosters are NOT official — use PAWS for final rosters
- Canvas rosters may include dropped students (marked “inactive”)
- Late-adding students rely on Canvas for catching up
- Do not email grades — post them in Canvas gradebook
Access Canvas
- Go to uwm.edu, select “Canvas” under the Faculty/Staff tab
- Log in using ePanther ID (not full email) and the same password
