Alum Joshua Schmidt (BFA 1999, Music Composition & Technology) was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Sound Design of a Play. He earned this honor for his sound design of The Manhattan Theatre Club’s adaptation of Tracy Lett’s “Bug,” which made its Boradway premiere at the Samuel J. Freidman Theatre last February.
In a Broadway World article by Nicole Rosky, Schmidt expressed his excitement and gave thanks to his collaborators.
“I am thrilled to receive a Tony nomination for sound design of Bug. I’d like to acknowledge my design associates Mike Deyo and Tyler Berg, as well as production sound engineer Kenneth Goodwin, for all of their work,” Schmidt said. “It’s an honor to work on Tracy’s amazing play and also to work with David Cromer. Huge congratulations to Carrie Coon, Takeshi Kata, and Heather Gilbert on their well-earned nominations, and to MTC for their brilliant production.”
