Sarah Ballard is a filmmaker and educator. Through non-fiction and experimental modes, her practice fuses personal narratives with historical research to address broader structural inequalities based on gender and class. Ballard teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and is a recipient of the 2025 Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists.

Throughout the fall and spring semesters, the Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series welcomes a diverse group of nationally and internationally recognized artists working across traditional, hybrid and emergent disciplines. Join us to explore and expand boundaries of creative visual practices alongside others with an interest in contemporary visual art.

Visit Sarah Ballard’s website.

The Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series is supported in part by the UWM Black & Gold Committee and Differential Tuition funds, Frederick R. Layton Fund, the John Colt Memorial Art Fund, The Queer Curatorial Fund, Center for 21st Century Studies, Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists, Print Club, Focus, and OBJECT.
