Consistent with UWM Faculty Workload Policy No. 3584, the Office of the Provost expects all units to maintain a faculty workload policy that reflects the mission and values of the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. These policies outline the standard expectations for faculty contributions in the areas of teaching, research and creative activity, service, and administration.
While institutional consistency and equity are important, UWM also recognizes the disciplinary differences across its academic units. Unit-level workload policies allow for flexibility in the allocation of effort based on disciplinary norms, faculty rank, unit needs, and career stage, while ensuring transparency and accountability.
