Why did you choose to concentrate on Women’s & Gender Studies?

As I’ve been focusing on youth services in libraries, I have become very interested in the narratives we pass on to children and what stories we’re telling them about gender and society. What do we present as normalized or as deviant? Using a gender studies lens to analyze systems of power has always made sense to me, and I enjoy both studying the current stories we tell about ourselves and imagining new stories.
