On Tuesday (04/14) Microsoft released security updates, as they do every month. In this remote work environment, updates and reboots might be more unexpected or disruptive. Installing these updates continues to be an important requirement for safe computing.

UWM Windows computers begin to receive pop-up notifications the day after updates are released. You can choose to install these updates at a time that’s most convenient for you, anytime during the next 7 days.

After 7 days, updates will install automatically and trigger a reboot at 10:00 pm CST. This month’s deadline will be 10:00 pm on Wednesday, April 22, 2020.

IT Staff will be available on campus to power-on, reboot, or troubleshoot unresponsive computers. If you encounter any issues after the updates have been installed, please call the UWM Help Desk at 414-229-4040 or visit uwm.edu/helpdesk.
