Vamos

Description

The diversity in the area is painted on the buildings through flowing color. The street art is inspiring and celebratory to Hispanics, LGBTQ+, and everyone under the sun. Also known as the “5th Ward,” Walker’s Point is home to families, people who speak Spanish as their first language and young professionals. The area is attractive for the drag bar, art galleries, restaurants, antique shops, and fresh markets. While some people have never had a reason to visit the neighborhood, it is said to be up-and-coming. There is a reclaimed feel with undernotes of the rich industrial history.

We seek to bring residents together and support each other and local business, then encourage them to support each other as neighbors. There is an opportunity in the market to unite Walker’s Point residents by encouraging fun with family and friends through a tool to create more shared experiences. Activities, socializing, and positive experiences strengthen relationships and can also provide a playful and personal exploration.

Through the mobile app Vamos, we aim to provide residents, parents and children with opportunities to explore the city together through their closest network, as well as create a community-focused and accessible way to discover local events.
