The second annual UWM Health Research Symposium, held on May 4th in the Union Ballroom, was a great success!
Dr. Frances Weaver, Professor in the Public Health Sciences Division, Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University, shared her important research on changing care in Health Services Research and the Veterans Health Administration.
Graduate and undergraduate students UWM health related programs also showcased their research projects in a public setting before their peers, professors, and the community, some for the very first time. There were 66 posters representing the work of over 80 students and their faculty/staff mentors.
Ten students were selected to present their research projects to the faculty, staff, and students in attendance. Their oral presentations were evaluated by a panel of judges, who ranked the presentations based on the potential contribution of the research to the scientific literature, and the clarity of the purpose, research methodology, analyses, results, quality of thought and writing.
The students whose oral presentations and research were among the top three in the judges’ rankings received monetary awards.
