A Place to Write!

In medieval times, a Scriptorium was a room reserved for writing and illustrating manuscripts. The illustration above, from a 14th Century manuscript of Arthurian legends, demonstrates typical activities in a scriptorium.
UWM Libraries and The Graduate School are collaborating to offer a quiet space reserved for UWM doctoral students, in recognition of your important contribution to the university’s research mission as a top-tier university. Room W204 in the Golda Meir Library West Wing provides a place to work on your writing in a community of peers from programs all across campus.
Doctoral students may contact the Graduate School Doctoral Retention Specialist, Shane Haensgen at haensgen@uwm.edu, to register for access to the room. Users are requested to sign in and out, and respect the facilities made available. The room is open during library building open hours, and all the resources of the Golda Meir Library are near at hand. Please bring your own laptop.
The Scriptorium occasionally closes for special events organized by the Graduate School or UWM Libraries. During these times, students are invited to use the common space available to all faculty and graduate students on the first floor of the East Wing.
