Gendered Rights to the City: Intersections of Identity and Power Conference

April 19, 2015 - April 20, 2015

Organized and hosted by the International Geographical Union Commission on Gender and Geography, Geographic Perspectives on Women AAG Specialty Group, and the Department of Geography at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, this conference will promote exploration of gender, difference, and power relations in contemporary and historical urban landscapes. Topics for papers and panel sessions will focus on the intersections of gender, identity, and power across diverse and contested spaces. The conference is located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a racially, ethnically, and religiously diverse city with a rich immigrant and industrial history shaped by labor activism and socialist politics.
