University Policies
  1. Late adds must be approved by the professor of the course. Submit a signed Registration Change Form or forward an email from the professor to your campus’s Student Affairs office.
    1. Washington County: wsh-cgs@uwm.edu
    2. Waukesha: wak-cgs@uwm.edu
  2. Late drops that are outside of university-published deadlines must go through the campus Academic Actions Committee. Contact your respective Student Affairs office or advisor for more information.
  3. Students can gain readmission to the university after sitting out of a one-semester or four-semester drop by submitting an application for admission for the term they wish to re-enroll in and then meet with an academic advisor in the school/college they were dismissed from prior to admission.
  4. Special permission is required for branch campus students who need to take a class at the main/Kenwood campus. Students must be in contact with their advisor in the College of General Studies and there must be significant reasoning that the course needs to be taken while concurrently enrolled in CGS.  Very few exceptions will be made.  Courses taken at the main campus will carry the tuition rate for that course of the main campus.
  5. Independent Studies can be arranged with any instructor/faculty member. The student and instructor both sign and fill out an RCF form and return that to Student Affairs.
  6. Preferred Name Policy – Students may choose to use a preferred name in PAWS versus their legal name.  More information on preferred name can be found here: https://uwm.edu/onestop/your-student-record/your-information/
