Saukville Field Station Annual Garlic Mustard hunt

June 4 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

We need volunteers to help search for garlic mustard in the Saukville Field Station’s Beech-Maple woods and surrounding property borders. We could really use your help!

This project is primarily just a nice walk through the woods and fields. The walk is brisk, off-trail, and through very hilly terrain (good exercise), but the job is not strenuous in any other way. The forest will be very beautiful in its spring green. Are you sold on helping us yet?

The beech/maple forest at the Saukville Field Station and adjacent private land has very little garlic mustard. We have worked to keep it that way. It is very important that we do a thorough search each year to make sure that we find and eliminate any new plants that have come into the woods. This search allows us to see every part of the forest. (Rain date – Thursday, June 5)

Please contact the Field Station at fieldstn@uwm.edu or call 414-659-4179 to let us know you are willing to help.
