RESCHEDULED! FOCB Event – Bats of SE Wisconsin with Helen Holtz

September 28, 2024 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Did you know that Wisconsin is home to eight bat species, with half of them hibernating in caves during the winter? Unfortunately, these bats are at risk due to white-nose syndrome, a fungal disease that has led to some of our cave-dwelling species becoming threatened and endangered. To learn more about these nocturnal creatures, join Helen Holtz, the WDNR Bat Ambassador. Helen will be sharing insights into the importance of bats and their hibernation habits. This will be followed by a night walk through the Beech Maple Woods SNA to listen for bats, flashlight or headlamp required. This event is co-hosted by Waukesha County Land Conservancy. Registration is capped at 30 participants.
