Karen Nguyen has been a Lecturer for the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee Interpreter Training Program since 2020. She received her master’s degree in Healthcare Interpreting (MSHCI) from Rochester Institute of Technology school of National Technical Institute for the Deaf, and her bachelor’s in education with completion of the Interpreter Training Program from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. She is BEI-Advanced certified and maintains a Qualified Mental Health Interpreter (QMHI) certification. Karen’s research has been focused on Sign Language Interpreter Field Attrition. She continues to interpret in community settings and looks to further the profession through evidence-based practice, collaboration with healthcare providers, and continued research.
