Jennifer Brownson, PhD

Dr. Jenny Brownson is a Teaching Faculty in Teaching and Learning at UWM. She teaches in the Elementary Education Program and Social Studies Teacher Education Program. Currently, she is also a Faculty Fellow for the Arts ECO program centered in Peck School of the Arts. Jenny is a former Milwaukee Public Schools teacher at Elm Creative Arts School, serving as a 4th and 5th grade teacher and theatre specialist. At UWM, Jenny was the Interim Director and Placement Specialist of the Office of Clinical Experiences.

Her professional and research interests include culturally relevant and abolitionist teaching, teachers’ integration of the creative arts, and cooperating teachers’ and teacher candidates’ co-planning in the elementary classroom.
