Dante J. Salto is an Assistant Professor of Higher Education at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He holds a PhD and an MSc in Educational Administration and Policy Studies (Higher Education concentration) from the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY). In addition, he earned his Licenciatura in Education from the Universidad Nacional de Cordoba, Argentina.

His research focuses on the study of higher education policy from a comparative and international perspective, mainly on issues at the intersection of quality assurance, regulation, privatization, and access. He is a Faculty Affiliate in the Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies (CLACS) at UWM and a Research Associate Program for Research on Private Higher Education (PROPHE). His most recent research project, “Crossing borders to connect routes: Researching with educational communities in a post-pandemic world,” is funded by the Spencer Foundation.

He received the Presidential Distinguished Dissertation Award, State University of New York (SUNY) in recognition of the quality of his doctoral research. He has received prestigious Fulbright and Organization of American States fellowships.
