Earn the 2 research credits required for the major through hands-on research with faculty.

Credit Requirement

A total of 2 credits are needed for the major. These credits may be completed in one semester or spread across two semesters.

Getting Started

Enrollment in CHEM 691 or 692 is student driven. Students should discuss research opportunities with faculty members whose work interests them.

You should start by researching Chemistry Department Faculty personal lab web pages (by clicking on a faculty member’s name). This will give you an idea of what each faculty member is working on.

Application Process

After securing a faculty mentor, complete the Undergraduate Research Application (CHEM 691/692) form below.

Time Commitment

The expected time commitment depends on the number of credits agreed upon by the student and faculty mentor. You should discuss all expectations with your faculty mentor.
