The UW-Milwaukee community is saddened by the passing of Sen. Herb Kohl, an accomplished and generous leader who energized Milwaukee in so many ways. He was a champion of education and educators, and his support continues through the Herb Kohl Educational Foundation. His significant support of the M-cubed partnership has helped transform Milwaukee. The $1.3 million in gifts from the Herb Kohl Philanthropies has increased the retention, graduation and success of students at UWM, Milwaukee Area Technical College and Milwaukee Public Schools for generations. He was a successful, influential, and much-admired business leader, and among the most prominent Wisconsin senators, serving four terms and benefiting the state for generations. More than anything, he listened, cared and made a great difference in the world.
