As the C21 staff prepares for next week’s Slow Digest, which will preview our Story Cart: Attention interviews highlighting how Milwaukeeans practice slow care through deliberate attention, this week is an invitation to pause.
Take a breath. Inhale…Exhale...
Let’s practice slow care together. Here are five ways to begin:
- Touch Grass
Step away from your screens and return to the world around you. Sit in a café. Look up. Let yourself notice who and what is nearby without rushing to the next thing. - Take a Walk
Join C21’s Human Club: Little Free Library Walking Tour on April 30 from 5–6 pm as we move through campus and visit neighborhood Little Free Libraries. Walking, noticing, and moving at a shared pace is its own form of care. - Read for Restoration
Choose something that soothes you, something that asks nothing of you but your attention. Let reading be less about productivity and more about presence. - Make a Slow Care Playlist
Curate a set of songs that help you settle into yourself. Listen without multitasking. Let the music hold your attention. - Nothing-Maxxing
Per the current social media trend, do absolutely nothing. Sit in silence. Resist the urge to fill the space. Let stillness be enough.
