Korea Day Celebration & Symphony Orchestra Concert

The Korean American Faculty & Staff Association at UWM and Korean American Association of Milwaukee host the 2025 Milwaukee KOREA Day (밀워키 한국의 날) Celebration.
The event will kick off at 4:30 p.m. with a variety of activities, including K-Pop dance performances by KOMET Dance Crew, LIVIA and Girly Pop Dance Crew, a show-and-tell about Korea by students, and Taekwondo demonstrations by a local community group, Martial Arts United. At 6:00 p.m., there will be Korean food tastings, writing name in Korean and traditional Korean games. Admission is free.
The main event of the 2025 Milwaukee Korea Day Celebration will be the Korea Day Concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Helene Zelazo Center for the Performing Arts.
The UWM Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Prof. Jun Kim, will open the program with Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet Overture and Debussy’s Petite Suite.
This year’s guest soloist is violinist YooJin Jang, winner of the 2017 Concert Artists Guild Competition, First Prize at the 2016 Sendai International Violin Competition, and Second Prize at the Michael Hill International Violin Competition. She will perform Beethoven’s Violin Concerto in D major with the UWM Symphony Orchestra.
Also featured will be soprano You-Seong Kim, top prize winner at the German International Art Song Competition Stuttgart and Second Prize at the Chimay Baroque Singing Competition in Belgium, performing the beloved Korean art songs Arirang Concertante and Longing for Mount Geumgang.
