Areas of Expertise

Dr. Zhao's research interests are in the areas of data mining and healthcare analytics. His current research focuses on the fusion of multisource, multimodal data for predictive analytics. He teaches courses in object-oriented programming, web-based application development, database management, and data mining research.

Professional Activities

Dr. Zhao has published in such journals as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Journal of Management Information Systems, IEEE Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, and IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics. He is the recipient of several research awards in the Lubar College of Business and the UWM Graduate School. He has co-chaired several conferences, including the Workshop on Information Technologies and Systems, INFORMS Workshop on Data Mining and Health Informatics, and China Summer Workshop on Information Management. He currently serves as an associate editor for Information Systems Research and Journal of Business Analytics, and has served as a senior editor for Decision Support Systems and an associate editor for MIS Quarterly.
