Biography

Pete Billmann has been a freelance guitarist in the Milwaukee area for over 20 years.  He earned his bachelor’s degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with additional study at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, and has studied with several renowned jazz artists including Jim Hall, Richard Davis, Gene Bertoncini, and fellow UW-Milwaukee faculty member Don Linke.  In addition to his background in jazz, Mr. Billmann also studied classical guitar with acclaimed guitarists Benjamin Verdery and Javier Calderon.  Pete has also worked extensively as a transcriptionist and arranger for Hal Leonard Publishing, and his work has been featured in dozens of guitar magazines and publications worldwide.  As a guitar instructor, he has served on the faculty at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music as well as being a guest clinician at schools and colleges throughout Wisconsin, and has also taught privately for over 25 years.  Pete Billmann joined the UW-Milwaukee guitar department in 2007.
