All current UWM students, faculty and staff are welcome to use the Writing Center free of charge. Our budget, however, does not allow us to work with those who are not currently enrolled or employed at UWM.

Alumni and others who wish to hire a freelance editor or proofreader may contact Writing Center Director Margaret Mika for more information.

Current UWM faculty or graduate students who seek freelance editors for professional writing or dissertations may also contact the director. Dissertators may be referred by their departments; in any case, they should make their committee members/professors aware that they are seeking an editor since failure to do so may be construed as a form of academic dishonesty.

Freelance editing information is not intended for students completing regular classwork. Students seeking external (fee-based) writing assistance should be aware that it could be construed as a form of academic dishonesty.
