Wasted!: The Story of Food Waste
November 7, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
THIS SCREENING IS FREE FOR EVERYONE!
Share the Earth Environmental Film Series brings you WASTED! THE STORY OF FOOD WASTE, which aims to change the way people buy, cook, recycle, and eat food. Through the the eyes of chef-heroes like Anthony Bourdain, Dan Barber, Mario Batali, Massimo Bottura, and Danny Bowien, audiences will see how the world’s most influential chefs make the most of every kind of food, transforming what most people consider scraps into incredible dishes that create a more secure food system. WASTED! exposes the criminality of food waste and how it’s directly contributing to climate change and shows us how each of us can make small changes – all of them delicious – to solve one of the greatest problems of the 21st Century.
Share the Earth, UWM Restaurant Operations and the UWM Office of Sustainability are pleased to partner for the first time on a mini series with the host of the award-winning PBS show Wisconsin Foodie, Kyle Cherek. From Deserts to Desserts present five films focused on food and the environment. Each monthly film from November through March will start at 6PM and will be followed by a discussion moderated by Kyle Cherek. Kyle will bring one or two guests to each post-film discussion to engage in a lively and informative conversation about the topics of the films, from food waste, to the impact of fair trade on food labor, to growing and producing food as climate changes, to genetically-modified crops, to the importance (or not) of animal protein to physical fitness. We hope you’ll join us for these fascinating films and conversations that will leave you with much food for thought.
