The Union Art Gallery is pleased to partner with the Union Cinema to present URSULA VON RYDINGSVARD: INTO HER OWN, an artistic biography of one of the few women in the world working in monumental sculpture. In this documentary, we’ll go behind the scenes with von Rydingsvard, as she and her collaborators – cutters, metal-smiths, and others – produce new work, including challenging commissions in copper and bronze. In conversations with curators, patrons, family, and fellow artists, we come to know von Rydingsvard as a driven but compassionate sculptor with a deep commitment to her art and the world around her.

This film is being presented as a follow up to the Union Art Gallery Fall 2019 exhibition 10 WISCONSIN SCULPTORS: NOT JUST A BOY’S CLUB. Exhibiting artist and UWM faculty Katie Martin Meurer will lead a discussion about von Rydingsvard on Wednesday, October 14 at 7pm online. Sign up for the film and discussion here.
