Soon, Matsuoka begins hearing it, too, descending into a mental abyss that warps his perception and gives vent to his darkest impulses. The Others
At the end of the Second World War, Grace Stewart (Nicole Kidman) and her two children live an isolated existence behind the locked doors and drawn curtains of a secluded mansion in the Channel Islands. The sudden arrival of her apparently shell-shocked husband and a coterie of mysterious new servants raise Grace’s suspicions that there is more to the house than meets the eye.
Alice
Czech animator Jan Švankmajer's masterpiece, ingeniously combining animation with live action, remains true to the absurdity of Lewis Carroll's book but bears the distinctive stamp of Švankmajer's obsessions, bringing a Cold War strangeness to bear on this timeless tale of children and their far-from-canny daydreams.
Sanatorium Under the Sign of the Hourglass | Milwaukee premiere!
Jozef boards a ghostly train via a forgotten branch line to visit his dying father at a remote Galician sanatorium. Upon arrival, he finds the hospital under the dubious helm of Doctor Gotard, who claims his father’s death has not yet occurred because the the sanatorium lags indeterminately behind the world outside. The imagination of the Brothers Quay floats between sleep and waking; time and events here cannot be measured by daylight means. Followed by Christopher Nolan's 2015 behind-the-scenes documentary, Quay, on 35mm!
