students in classroom

Political science offers a major and a minor – both online or in-person or a mix of both types of classes! Our program offers maximum flexibility in choice of class format and in choice of electives.

In our program, students develop strong writing, analytical, and communications skills and take courses across four main areas of political science:

  • American politics
  • comparative politics
  • political theory
  • international relations

Explore our student resources below to get a taste of what life as a UWM student is like and specifically the opportunities available to political science students. Successful college students take advantage of all the resources available to them and graduate, not just with a degree, but with a full resume of experiences that can lead to that first post-college job or acceptance to their preferred graduate program.

Below is information about internships, scholarships, the law studies concentration, other certificates to complement your political science studies, the mock trial student organization, summer program at the United Nations, and more.

Personalized advising is provided to each major from faculty members who are specialists in the student’s field of interest.
