A Parameter Study of Eccentric Accretion Disks in GRMHD

Joaquin Duran
University of Texas at San Antonio

We present a three dimensional GRMHD parameter study of circularized and eccentric black hole accretion disks using the KORAL code. Our simulations span SANE and MAD magnetic flux states, black hole spins of a=0 and a=0.9, and disk eccentricities of e=0, 0.38, and 0.5. We investigate how orbital eccentricity changes disk morphology, radial inflow, magnetization, accretion variability, outflow efficiency, and disk outflow orientation. Eccentric disks develop stronger nonaxisymmetric structure and shock heated spiral features, while their radial inflow differs from circularized controls. The magnetic response depends strongly on flux state: eccentric SANE models are less magnetized and less variable, while eccentric MAD models are more magnetized and more variable. In MAD, eccentricity is also associated with larger disk and magnetized polar outflow orientation excursions.
