September 26 @ 10:00 am - 5:00 pm
The American Geographical Society Library features maps, atlases, globes, and other items relating to geography around the world.

Stop by the American Geographical Society Library on Saturday, Sept. 26, for Doors Open Milwaukee. Home to one of the largest map collections in the United States, the American Geographical Society Library (AGSL) of the UWM Libraries contains nearly 2 million items related to geography around the world. Located on the third floor of the UWM Golda Meir Library’s East Wing, you’ll find maps, atlases, globes, photographs, books, and digital geospatial data as old as the fifteenth century and as new as 2026. These materials support students and researchers at UWM and around the world.

Take a trek through many historic Milwaukee maps and atlases, as well as other Milwaukee materials from the UWM Libraries’ Archives and Special Collections, and browse around materials from around the world. You’ll be able to take a self-guided tour of some of the top pieces from the collection, including our most historic maps and photographs.

The AGSL is open to the public from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26. The Golda Meir Library opens at noon.
