Universities of Wisconsin Employee Training

The Universities of Wisconsin offers asynchronous training to all employees:

UWM-Specific Training

The UWM Archives gives periodic trainings for employees wanting to learn more about what they can do to better manage their records.

  • Records Management Basics (semesterly): typically instructed by the Records Officer and the Digital Archivist, focuses on records retention, using retention schedules, effective organization and preservation of records
  • Records 101: An Introduction to Public Records, Records Management, and Open Meetings (semesterly): instructed by the Public Records Custodian, Records Officer, and Senior Legal Counsel, this courses focuses more broadly on UWM employee responsibilities in creating, retaining, and producing records by public request
  • Governance training (annually): the Records Officer participates in annual training for members of department, college, and university committees on records retention responsibilities

We are happy to produce workshops and presentations tailored to the needs of individual offices and departments upon request. To set up a time for such a specialized presentation, please contact the archives at askarch@uwm.edu.
