We offer educational workshops and training seminars for classes, campus departments, and student organizations about LGBTQIA+ lives and topics. Our workshops can even be customized to address industry-specific concerns, team goals, or student needs.
Educational Workshops Offered
This can be a stand-alone presentation or built into L.I.F.T. or Ally Development Training.
Workshop requests should be made no later than 3 weeks before the presentation date. This allows our Education team to provide the best workshop possible.
Here are some examples of L.I.F.T. workshops we have done in the past:
LGBTQI+ Clients in the Medical Field
Gender Around the World
Greek Life & Gender Inclusivity
Media & Homophobia
Ally Development Training
In order to expand and bolster our support for LGBTQ+ students, faculty, and staff, the UWM Ally Development Trainings are modular workshops the LGBTQ+ Resource Center offers to its campus community. Previously called the “Safer Spaces Trainings”, these workshops are to create a community of dedicated students, faculty, and staff engaged in conversations around how to better serve our LGBTQ+ communities on campus and in our lives off of campus. Student organizations, sports teams, official departments, and classes are encouraged to request these workshops. The recommended number of participants is 5-30 to encourage honest conversation and engagement in the material. Please plan for at least 60-120 minutes for this presentation.
Workshop requests should be made no later than 3 weeks before the presentation date. This allows our facilitator to provide the best workshop possible. Teams should be retrained once every three years as identity-based education is always evolving and growing with its communities.
