Major Courses
Of the 30-to-45 credits needed in the major, a minimum of 15 must be upper-level credits taken at UWM. Some majors require more than 15.

L&S General Requirements
(45 credits)
- Language other than English
(0–20 credits) - BA Students must complete through the fourth level of a single language other than English. This requirement can be satisfied in diffrent ways, including completion of four years of a single language in high school, four semesters of a single langauge in college, or AP credits. Talk to your advisor about your options.
- High school language courses (including ASL) and approved proficiency tests may satisfy all or part of this requirement. One year of high school language study equals one semester of college coursework.
- International Requirement

(9 credits) - L&S Natural Sciences
(9 credits)
One of the L&S NS breadth courses must include a laboratory or field work experience. - L&S Social Sciences

Electives/Minor
(0–21 credits)
Although the combined credits listed across the four categories exceed 120, students may apply certain courses toward multiple requirements. For instance, LINGUIS 100 satisfies the core general SBS requirement and the L&S HU requirement. Because courses can fulfill more than one requirement, students can complete the degree with the standard 120 credits required for graduation.
