Students who are enrolled in one of the College of Letters & Science undergraduate fully online programs can receive special pricing of $395 per credit. There are no additional campus fees, however, individual classes may have a fee associated with required course materials. Any individual course that has an additional fee will have that information in the schedule of classes so you can determine if you wish to take that particular class or not.

The rate of $395 per credit hours applies to all online courses taken whether it is in the major, a general education course, or an elective.

However, in some circumstances it may be more financially advantageous to declare the regular version of the major (e.g. “psychology”) instead of the online version of the major (e.g. “online psychology”) and simply choose all online courses when registering for classes.

We have outlined the most common scenarios below and recommend talking to a Student Financial Services representative if you have any questions about whether the regular major or the online major is best for you financially. This is based on current 2023-24 tuition rates and subject to change if tuition rates increase.

  1. Non-Wisconsin residents will find the per-credit rate lower than the standard out-of-state tuition and fee schedule regardless of full-time or part-time status. It is recommended that any out-of-state student enroll in the online version of the major.
  2. Wisconsin residents attending part-time less than 12 credits in a semester will find the per-credit rate lower than the standard in-state tuition and fee schedule. If you attend part-time in most semesters, it is recommended that you enroll in the online version of the major.
  3. Wisconsin residents attending full-time between 12 and 14 credits in a semester will find the per-credit rate lower than the standard in-state tuition and fee schedule. If you stay below 15 credits in most semesters, it is recommended that you enroll in the online version of the major.
  4. Wisconsin residents attending full-time for 15 or more credits in a semester will find the standard in-state tuition and fee lower than the per-credit rate. If you regularly enroll for 15 or more credits, it is recommended that you enroll in the regular version of the major and just choose all online courses when you register.
