UWM has recently made a shift from 30% recycled copier/printer paper to 100% recycled paper for size 8.5×11. Through a combination of double-sided printing, reducing the use of individual printer, alternatives such as online forms and scanning, and the move to 100% recycled paper, we are estimated to save over 267,000 sheets of paper for this next fiscal year.

The FAA division recently underwent Green Office Certification, which:

• Supports, promotes, and recognizes departments that are engaging in sustainable practices in 3 primary categories: (1) energy conservation; (2) waste reduction, and (3) recycling AND
• Allows departments to contribute to UWM’s Guiding Value of “stewardship of resources that promote sustainability, prosperity, and equity for all in the local and global communities”.

Departments receive a rating of one to four “paws” based on their level of achieved sustainability.  The division achieved an overall rating of three “paws,” and the Green Team is working to ensure a continuing commitment to sustainable practices.
