  • Clinical Experience Coordinator, Office of Clinical Experiences

Anna Bierce serves as the Clinical Experience Coordinator for students enrolled in Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade teacher preparation programs. In her role, she partners UWM students with classroom teachers who will serve as cooperating teachers for specific field and student teaching experiences. If students plan on obtaining a Wisconsin Teaching License upon graduating from UWM, they must complete the experiences that Anna lines up according to the requirements set by programs and the Department of Public Instruction. In addition to coordinating classroom experiences, Anna is involved in the UWM Cooperating Teacher Verification Workshop and shares the clinical experience process with students during various classroom presentations.

Anna received her Early Childhood Education undergraduate and graduate degree at Concordia University Wisconsin with a focus in children’s literature as a way to teach curriculum. Anna spent 11 years teaching in a variety of settings including schools in Michigan, Wisconsin and Alaska. Most recently, Anna was the 4/5-year-old kindergarten teacher at the UWM Children’s Learning Center until taking this position in the Fall of 2019.

Outside of UWM, you can find Anna in her backyard garden, watching a variety of sports with her husband, cheering on the Milwaukee roller derby team and spending time with her cat Jet.
