We are proud to announce that after several years of unsuccessful grant applications, we finally received funds to establish a new and equitable pathway for high school graduates and students who discontinued a STEM program to enter the local STEM workforce. The Universities of Wisconsin committed $175,000 to established this program at UWM, which will be directed by Prof. Anja Blecking, Dr. Anna Benko and Professor and MIDD director Leggy Arnold. The summer program will focus on a) General STEM knowledge, b) Basic laboratory skills and procedures, and c) Industry-specific skills and procedures for future laboratory technicians. We are especially proud that our local industry partners will be part of this program making this a truly collaborative program.
