Addressing Food Insecurity Among College Students

The mission of the UWM Food Center and Pantry is to ensure that the UWM community has access to nutritious food in a welcoming and educational space. 52.3% of UWM students experienced some form of food insecurity with 25.7%–one quarter of students—experiencing very high food insecurity (National Collegiate Health Assessment, 2024).

Donations keep the shelves stocked with food throughout the year. To support the UWM Food Center and Pantry view more information, contact foodassist@uwm.edu, or make a gift to the UWM Foundation Food Pantry Fund.

Tuesday Sign Ups

The pantry operates by appointment only on Tuesdays. The sign-up sheet for appointment slots will be posted no later than the Monday before opening. If you click on the button to sign-up and you are not rerouted to the sign-up sheet, the link has not been posted yet. Please check back at a later time. Please do not sign up on behalf of others. Each visitor must schedule their own appointment. Additionally, each visitor may book only one appointment. Multiple registrations will be cancelled. Please try to arrive on time for your appointment. We may not be able to guarantee entry for late arrivals. To reduce congestion, we recommend that you do not arrive more than 5 minutes in advance of your appointment as early entry is not permitted.

Diaper/Wipe Distribution

Diapers and wipes are available to UWM student parents. Student parents who need diapers and/or wipes can come to the pantry on the first Monday each month to receive diapers and wipes. Sign up is not required, but please have your student ID or active UWM email address ready upon entry. The pantry will only be open for diaper and wipe distribution during these times. We highly recommend you come during this time. However, if this conflicts with your class schedule, please email us at foodassist@uwm.edu to arrange another time to pick up. Upcoming diaper distribution date(s) are below:

  • November 3rd from 1 PM until 3 PM
  • December 1st from 1 PM until 3 PM
