Team Science Training –
Friday, May 9, 2025 | Noon to 2 pm

This is an opportunity to collaborate, learn, and grow alongside researchers from across CCEP. The trainer will be Team Science Senior Project Manager, Madison L. Hartstein from Northwestern University.

What is Team Science? Team Science is a fast-growing field that brings together diverse experts to tackle complex problems, combining their perspectives and skills to create solutions that would be impossible alone.

All are welcome to attend even if you are not involved in research. Instructional academic staff may find the training helpful on how to work within project or program teams.
One goal of the training is to spark new connections and foster collaboration both within and across CCEP.

The training will cover the following:

Team Science 101 will introduce you to key principles of Team Science, its importance in today’s research world, strategies for effective teamwork, building trust, managing conflict, and practical tips for overcoming common challenges in collaborative settings.

Awareness Building will include experiential exercises designed to highlight the challenges and opportunities of working in interdisciplinary teams versus individually. This process helps demonstrate the value of interdisciplinary collaboration and provides skill-building opportunities for effective team functioning. Attendees will have an opportunity to: share previous research team experiences/ challenges (e.g., around developing a shared language); expectations for being a part of a team and/or managing a team; and highlight natural synergies within CCEP. This portion will involve taking part in breakout groups.
