Shamrock Club’s Post Parade Party Returns March 12, 2022

The Shamrock Club of Wisconsin’s 50th annual Post Parade Party will return to the Irish Cultural and Heritage Center of Wisconsin on Saturday, March 12, 2022, from 1 until 6 pm.

The Party, the Most Irish Thing to do in Milwaukee, will feature four stages, four dance groups, one Irish comedian, and five bands, plus a dedicated children’s area. There will be food served, and retail and cultural groups represented. The cost will be $8 for attendees over 12, and $20 for a family of up to six.

The entertainers include the dance schools Glencastle Irish Dancers; Trinity Academy of Irish Dance; Kinsella Irish Dancers; and, for the 30th year in a row at the PPP, the Caledonian Irish Dancers; Music by Radiation; athas; Blackthorn Folly; Atlantic Wave, and The O’Bradys. New to the PPP this year is Irish comedian Adam Burke. Burke is well known for his appearances on NPR’s Wait Wait, Don’t Tell Me. We also will have a dedicated Children’s Area, again featuring Eileen O’Rourke: Leprechaun Stories.

The PPP originated after the Shamrock Club’s St. Patrick Parade moved to Mitchell Street in 1971. Over the years, it has grown to be the largest St. Patrick Parade Day event in Milwaukee. The 2022 edition follows the downtown Milwaukee parade, which starts at noon on MLK Drive, and runs to Water Street.

The PPP will follow the City of Milwaukee Covid 19 guidelines. The Irish Cultural and Heritage Center is located at 2133 West Wisconsin Avenue.

We will have volunteers from the Milwaukee Hurling Club, the Miltown Gaels football Club and the Milwaukee Irish Currach Club. Tralee Irish Imports will be selling packaged food. We will also have the Shamrock Club’s Retail area selling Irish presents.

The Shamrock Club is the oldest Irish American social organization in Wisconsin, celebrating its 62nd birthday in March, 2022. We are based at the ICHC, and were the first tenant at the Center.
