Xuan Ye works across art, music, and technology. Often through improvisation, computation, and fiction, Xuan composes software, images, installations, performances, editions, and pedagogical experiments. Xuan makes noise as a generative space to evoke the dissonant, untranslatable, and illegible pulses and pauses that make meaning stutter, systems tremble. Their work has appeared at the MOCA Toronto, UCCA Center for Contemporary Art (Shanghai), UQAM (Montreal), Venice Architecture Biennale (2021), Peer to Space (Berlin),  MUTEK (Montreal),  Vivid Projects (Birmingham), and Goethe-Institut (Beijing), among others.

Throughout the fall and spring semesters, the Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series welcomes a diverse group of nationally and internationally recognized artists working across traditional, hybrid and emergent disciplines. Join us to explore and expand boundaries of creative visual practices alongside others with an interest in contemporary visual art.

The Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series is supported in part by the UWM Black & Gold Committee and Differential Tuition funds, Frederick R. Layton Fund, the John Colt Memorial Art Fund, The Queer Curatorial Fund, Center for 21st Century Studies, Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists, Print Club, Focus, and OBJECT.
