Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley is a London/Berlin-based black trans artist, game developer and mother. Through video game aesthetics and technologies, Brathwaite-Shirley aims to bring to the forefront the experiences of Black trans women and, more generally, to archive the Black trans experience.

Throughout the fall and spring semesters, the Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series welcomes a diverse group of nationally and internationally recognized artists working across traditional, hybrid and emergent disciplines. Join us to explore and expand the boundaries of creative visual practices alongside others with an interest in contemporary visual art.

Visit Danielle Brathwaite-Shirley’s website.

The Artists Now! Guest Lecture Series is supported in part by the UWM Black & Gold Committee and Differential Tuition funds, Frederick R. Layton Fund, the John Colt Memorial Art Fund, The Queer Curatorial Fund, Center for 21st Century Studies, Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellowships for Individual Artists Program, Print Club, Focus, and OBJECT.
