Biography

Jeremy Plunkett is a Milwaukee-based visual artist and educator whose photo-realist work explores the interplay of cast light, environment, and interior space. Working across oil painting, charcoal drawing, and intaglio-based printmaking, he investigates the illuminating and reflective qualities of light, often turning ordinary interiors or ephemeral moments into visual meditations on stillness, reflection and longing.

Plunkett holds an MFA in Painting from Ohio University and currently serves as a Lecturer in Painting & Drawing and the First Year Program at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, where he teaches students foundational techniques and fine art concepts.

His practice has been recognized with the 1-year Manifest Artist Residency award at Manifest Gallery (Cincinnati), which followed his First Prize award in the gallery’s International Drawing Annual 4 publication. He was also a finalist for the Pfister Hotel Artist-in-Residence in Milwaukee and has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Edward Hopper House Art Center (Nyack, NY) and the International Mezzotint Festival (Ekaterinburg, Russia).

In 2023, his mezzotints were included in the revised edition of The Mezzotint: History and Technique.
