Biography

Amanda (she/her) was born in the Netherlands and has lived in many various countries and states over the years, but now calls Milwaukee home. Amanda attended a local community college for two years before transferring to UW-Milwaukee where she received her Bachelor's degree in Global Communications. After graduating from UWM, Amanda served with Americorps for two years as a College Access Coach at Milwaukee High School of the Arts where her love for working with high school and college-aged students was sparked. Amanda then continued her academic studies and earned her Master's degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Marquette University.

In her role as a PSOA advisor, Amanda draws upon her personal experiences as a first-generation college student navigating UWM as well as her experience working with high school and college students from various backgrounds in the Milwaukee area. Her goal is to prepare students for a successful college experience by helping them understand university policies and procedures, learn degree requirements, select appropriate classes, and identify the many other resources here at UWM.
