You can present your work at the Symposium in a variety of formats:
Poster Presentation
- Posters should be a maximum of 44″ X 36″.
- Please use the UWM poster template provided to ensure the dimensions are correct and the UWM logo is present.
- We will have a tripod easel and poster board set up for you in the UWM Student Union Wisconsin Room. Posters will be attached to the display boards using binder clips that will also be provided.
- The poster session will be from 10:00a.m. to 12:00p.m. All poster presenters will be presenting at the same time. Generally, there are about 200 posters in the room.
- Please submit your poster for printing to our@uwm.edu by the due date April 13th, 2026 as a .ppt or .pdf file and title the file LastName_FirstName OUR. We will notify you when your poster is ready for pickup.
- Poster set-up will be from 4:00-7:00p.m. on April 23rd and 8:00a.m.-9:45a.m. on April 24th.
- Presenters should be available to discuss their posters on April 24th, 2026 from 10:00a.m.-12:00p.m.

Oral Presentations
- Oral presentations will be schedule in smaller break-out rooms across the hall from the Wisconsin Room. Four students will be assigned to a room based on presentation themes, to the best of our ability.
- Presenters are scheduled for a 15-minute block (10-12 minute for a slide presentation with an additional 3-5 minutes for a question-and-answer period).
- Presentations will be scheduled 9:00a.m. to 10:00a.m. and/or 10:30a.m. to 11:30 a.m. depending on the number of oral presentations.
- Sessions will be moderated and the time limit enforced.
- Computers attached to digital projectors will be equipped with USB ports for flash drives. Audio will be available in each room.
- If additional equipment is needed, please indicate this when you submit your abstract.
- Please email your slide presentation file to our@uwm.edu by Tuesday, April 21st. Title the file LastName_FirstName
Performing Art
- Original performances can include literary readings, theater, music, or dance. Performances can also be a researched interpretation based on an existing work. Performances may be solo or ensemble.
- Presentations are scheduled for 10-12 minutes with an additional 3-5 minutes for a question-and-answer period. They will be scheduled 9:00a.m.-10:00a.m. or 11:00a.m.-12:00p.m.
- If you will be using slides, please email your slide presentation file to our@uwm.edu by Tuesday, April 21st. Title the file LastName_FirstName
- If additional equipment or space is needed, please indicate this when you submit your abstract.
Visual Art
- All forms of visual art, including original painting, sculpture, photography, prints, textile arts, drawings, pottery, metal, etc., will be considered for acceptance as gallery exhibits.
- When registering and submitting your abstract, please indicate special equipment and space needs (e.g., required space in square feet, required table space, or number of easels).
- Exhibit set-up will be from 8:00a.m.-9:45a.m. on April 24th.
- If using a poster, submit your poster for printing to our@uwm.edu by the due date April 13th, 2026 as a .ppt or .pdf file and title the file LastName_FirstName OUR. We will notify you when your poster is ready for pickup.
- Presenters should be available to discuss their work on April 24th, 2026 from 10:00a.m -12:00p.m.
