Fernanda Tabares-Zamaro

Fernanda was born in León, Guanajuato México. She was brought to the United States at a young age and was raised in the southside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.  Through her participation in FIRST Robotics in high school, Fernanda decided to pursue a degree in Mechanical Engineering at the Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE). During her time there she saw the need for Latine representation in STEAM fields and founded a robotics team at her middle school to inspire the youth to pursue careers in STEAM.  She earned the opportunity to intern at Johnson Controls and was hired right after graduation where she worked as a design engineer at Johnson Controls for several years. She then transitioned to the world education and taught Physics to juniors and seniors at Carmen Southeast High School through hands-on activities with a focus on engineering topics and real-world applications. She most recently joined the Roberto Hernández Center (RHC) at UW-Milwaukee (UWM) in November 2023. Fernanda has always had a passion for education and serving the Latine community especially when sharing her love for science and engineering.
