The Yanomami people, relatively isolated in the Brazilian Amazon until the 1970s dictatorship opened their lands to extraction, hold a time-worn funeral rite said to hold up the sky against those who would tear it down, and to galvanize themselves in their struggle against the encroachment of illegal gold miners. Narrated by Yanomami shaman Davi Kopenawa and inspired by his 2010 book, this breathtaking documentary highlights the resilience of the ancient community and the wonder of the world they fight to protect.
