NEW RELEASE!
Set in the mountainous borderlands between the warring nations of Azerbaijan and Armenia, this story follows Rena Effendi, a photographer in pursuit of a critically endangered butterfly named in honor of her father, an enigmatic Soviet entomologist who died when Rena was just fourteen. Rena retraces her father’s butterfly-hunting routes through a now-devastated landscape, deep into a remote Caucasus exclave isolated by decades of conflict, where the mysterious butterfly is known to appear once a year, high over the heavily militarized border. On this journey of discovery, Rena also draws closer to her father, confronting the distance in time between them and attempting to come to terms with his troubled legacy.
