Matt Suwalski
- Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life
As the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Life, Matt Suwalski is committed to fostering an environment where students thrive. He leads the dynamic and dedicated teams in University Housing, the Student Union (including Student Involvement), Dining & Retail Services, and the Children's Learning Center, striving to ensure these areas serve as foundational resources for student success and well-being. Matt also guides strategic projects, focusing on employee development within Student Affairs and collaborating with colleagues to champion initiatives that foster a strong sense of belonging and engagement for all students. With a passion for higher education finances and budgets, he leverages data-informed decision-making to impact strategic outcomes.
He has previously served as the Executive Director of University Union & Auxiliary Services at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay, having oversight of a wide range of operational departments, including the University Union, University Dining, Bookstore, Student Involvement, and New Student & Family Engagement. His experience also encompasses contributions in residence life, where he managed student housing, supervised staff, and provided crisis intervention and disciplinary support. Beyond his administrative roles, Matt has served as an adjunct instructor teaching leadership courses.
Matt completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis in Finance from UW Oshkosh. During his time in Macomb, IL, Matt completed his master’s degree in College Student Personnel and Bachelor of Business from Western Illinois University. He also maintains his Certified Auxiliary Services Profession (CASP) certification from the National Association of College Auxiliary Service (NACAS).
