The political climate around guns is a central feature shaping the lives of Americans and American culture. Dr. Jennifer Carlson, an Arizona State University sociologist, shares her insights about the impact of this culture on all of us. Her newest book, Merchants of the Right: Gun Sellers and the Crisis of American Democracy, offers crucial lessons about how gun culture is rooted in many key dilemmas we confront as a country. Drawing on a wealth of interview data she collected from gun sellers across the United States, Dr. Carlson takes readers to the front lines of the culture war over guns. Her work addresses a crucial question that should interest all of us: What are the consequences of gun politics for American Democracy?
